Paperlust Photobook Fest is an art biennial started in 2019 by joined teams of Fresh From Poland and Paper Beats Rock foundations. Its uniqueness lies in a deep appreciation of European art landscapes. Collaboration with local institutions serves as a key to discover peculiarities of regional self-publishing scenes and share them with the wider audience.
The anatomy of the festival is flexible, moulded by each edition’s specific theme focused on different geographical regions. The programme consists of publications, exhibitions, workshops, fairs, reviews, or talks.
The festival team approaches the printed medium through critical lenses, analysing the technical and conceptual aspects of the artbook, investigating the ways it can be employed for creative storytelling, evaluating the legitimacy of paper publication in the XXI century, and trying to understand where does this deep love for printed matter come from.
